1. Who we are

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account.

Business and financial data you enter

The Service lets you record your own business finances — projects, milestones, clients, transactions (cash in / cash out), expenses, resources, sales channels, payment methods, and marketplace bid data. This content is entered by you and stored in your workspace so we can provide the Service. It is your data; we do not sell it.

Usage and device data

We log basic technical and usage information needed to run and secure the Service, such as last sign-in time, IP address, browser/device information, and audit records of key actions in your workspace.

Payment information

Paid subscriptions are processed by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle. We do not collect or store your card or banking details — those are handled directly by Paddle on PCI-DSS-compliant systems. We receive limited billing data from Paddle (such as your plan, subscription status, country, and the last four digits / card brand) to manage your subscription.

3. How we use your information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To authenticate you and keep your account and data secure.
• To process subscriptions and entitlements (via Paddle).
• To send essential service emails (verification, password reset, billing, and important notices) through our email provider.
• To respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service.
• To detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, or technical issues.
• To comply with legal obligations.

4. Service providers we share data with

We share data only with vendors that help us run the Service, under appropriate safeguards:

• Paddle — payments, billing, tax, and Merchant of Record. See Paddle’s Privacy Policy.
• Email delivery — to send transactional emails.
• Hosting & infrastructure — to operate our servers and database.

We do not sell your personal data or share it for third-party advertising.

5. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the application. The checkout flow may set cookies controlled by Paddle. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and workspace data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your data or request account deletion at any time by contacting hello@marginlane.app. We may retain limited records where required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, workspace-level access controls, and audit logging. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. International transfers

We and our service providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@marginlane.app. For payment-related data held by Paddle, you can also contact Paddle directly.

10. Children

The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
